Your donation to The Iris Appleyard Foundation improves the quality of life for people with dementia, their families and their carers by providing professional carers into the homes of people with dementia.
According to the Director of Curtin’s Centre for Research on Ageing, Associate Professor Barbara Horner … “People with dementia aren’t always in nursing homes – many live in the community with what becomes an increasingly debilitating condition. We have to increase community understanding of the condition and how people can be assisted to live with dementia and maintain a level of quality of life”. (6)
How to make a difference
The foundation currency is in caring hours. Each caring hour donation is $50* - providing one hour of professional care to a person with dementia. Every donation over $2 is welcome and tax deductible. A receipt will be forwarded.

Alzheimer’s Australia WA Ltd allocate donated caring hours to those clients that are in the most need or are facing a crisis situation.
*Caring hour costs are estimated. However, all donations received will go into a fund to be used by Alzheimer’s Australia WA Ltd to provide care for persons with dementia.
The Iris Appleyard Foundation is 100% not for profit and accounts for every dollar received. The Foundation is subject to a strict auditing process and part proceeds are used for essential operational expenses.
