Iris and her art

Untitled
Iris Appleyard, undated |
(1987)
Discovered on a garden bank, discarded after winters pruning – a bud, dark red, deep folded – brought unexpectedly within the house and planted in a tall glass holder.
Who knows, by chance, it yet may bloom, even now in cold of winter, here within this room.
A day or so and slowly now, unfolding in a bower of crimson, dark, yet lifting to the light – exquisite, rare fulfilment amazing to behold and more –
the double pleasure, such fragrance in the winter of a rose

If I was a bird I’d be flying across the green valley towards the sea; If I was a parrot I’d be pecking seeds from the sun flowers, flashing green-blue wings in my haste and sharing the cool morning breeze with all who live in Paradise here in City Beach

A wave is rippling through the sea-weed – cleansing, releasing the tangles,
till the flow of the ocean is clear and the rhythm of the whole is in harmony with life’s purpose, We are part of this process – essential to the health of the world as a whole. Come together all people be part of life’s unity so that heavenly harmony brings us together in the unity of love.
